Got Muse? A Writer-to-Writer MEME

1) Where do you write?  Currently, at the kitchen table, which isn't always the best set up, since it's in the main part of the house with the TV, and the creatures-I mean, the siblings-but it's the only place that I have internet access at the moment, so it's annoying, but I deal.

2) When do you write?  Depends on the day.  Some days I'll write in spurts throughout the day, and other days I'll write late into the night, I'm a night owl and seem to work better when everyone else in the house is asleep.

3) Planner or Pantser?  Again, it depends, some days I like to outline until my eyeballs fallout, and other days, I like to just dive right into the story.

4) Coffee or tea?  I save coffee for when I wake up in the mornings, so tea, (peppermint, yummy! :)), all the way when I write.

5) Pen and paper, or computer?  Mostly my lap top, but some days I feel daring and write with pen and paper and then go back later and type what I've written into the computer.

6) What gets you in the writing mood?  Wearing comfy clothes, tea, the right music and the promise of picking up a good book once my writing is finished for the day-oh, and chocolate, gotta have the sweets! :)

7) What pulls you out of the writing mood?  Loud noises, a brain over-stuffed with ideas, Negative Nellies.

8 What’s the best writing advice you’ve ever read/heard/received?  "Write with reckless abandon". :)

9) Got muse?  I think, yes, a little voice in my head that says, "ooo, you should write about this!" or "oooo, don''t even THINK about writing about that", it depends on the story.

10) Who is the biggest supporter of your writing?  My friends and college teachers/faculty :)

11) Sound or Silence?  Music, definatly. :)

JUST A REMINDER: don't forget to e-mail us your stories (using the Weekly Story Prompt) by this Friday, which is when we'll choose our favorites to post on the blog along with our own stories! :) E-mail us at: thebloggergirlz@gmail.com

A new additon to the blog!

Recently, my fellow Blogger Girlz and I came up with a few new, fun additions to add to the blog, one of them being: Weekly Story Prompts!  (Thank Blogger Girl Aaron for this idea, fun, no? :))  Here's how the Weekly Prompts will work:

1) Every Monday, a different Blogger Girl will post a story prompt
2) Write a 2-5 page story using the prompt
3) If you so desire, you'll have till Friday to send us your stories to: thebloggergirlz@gmail.com
4) Every Friday, we'll each pick our favorite story and post it on the blog along with our own stories! :)
5) Have fun and be as creative as you want! :)

Today however, due to my utter failure at being able to come up with anything remotley creative concerning my personal WIPs, I decided to post the first story prompt early to get some creativity flowing!  So now you'll have 2 extra days to write your stories, yay! :)

And the first prompt is: Someone, (it doesn't have to be a genie), grants your hero/heroine 3 wishes.  What do they wish for?

Have fun!  And write on!  I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with! :)

Friday Five (on Saturday)

1) I've discovered that when someone says "I really like your cooking" what they mean is "I want you to make me dessert." They're just trying to be polite and not say it, but all they're actually doing is being annoying and giving me yet another reason not to cook them dessert. If you want something from me just ask

2) Yes, outlines are a good tool, but only if you know what to put in them other wise they're just a pain and should be avoided at all costs.

3) Discussing my hobbies with my mom is a VERY bad idea because the conversation always end up at "if it can't make you money, why do you do it?" I mean come on it's a hobby it's supposed to be pointless if it had a point I would call it work.

4) The best thing about being a maid is try to figure out things about the people staying in the rooms based on the contents of their room.

5) The second best thing about being a maid is getting a tip. It's like the tooth fair only better.

Friday Five

1) How was HP6, you ask?  Well, I have three words for you: BLOODY.  FREAKING.  BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!! :D <3

2) Misscarriges suck ass :(

3) Outlines are my new friend.  I think.

4) Last night I made a decision...to change my LIFE, (aka Operation Change my Life/OCML).  And it's all thanks to watching "A Year in the Life of J.K. Rowling" last night on TV.  Very inspiring stuff.  It made me realize something: if J.K. can write a whole book while being super poor and a single mom, then *I* can write a book while being a college sophmore!  BOOYA!!!!! :D <3

5) I finally came up with a title for my current WIP: "Messages from a Dead Girl", YAY!!!!  I've never come up with a book title that fast before!  Looks like OCML is working out better/faster then I thought it would!!!!!!! :D <3

Top five things that make my day!

So many great things have happened today that I thought I'd share my top 5!  They are:

1) The fabulous Steph Bowe gave US-the Blogger Girlz-a nod on her blog!  Thanks so much for the shoutout Steph, we really appreciate the exposure!!! :D <3

2)  Hmmm, interesting...who knew that fabulous movie director Tim Burton would become my new writing inspiration? Thanks to Tim, (and to his totally awsome movie "Sleepy Hollow"!) one of my WIPs has taken on a (creepy!) life of its own! So, stay tuned and :) prepare to be (I hope, anyway!) terrified! :D <3

3) It's sunny outside, and that's ok with me (today, anyway, at least there's a breeze!) :D <3

4) "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" comes out in ONE day-ONE!  Get ready to breakout the butterbeer, mates!  July 15 will deserve a loooong-awaited toast of celebration! :D <3

5) Yay!  I finally found the awsome song that goes with the the "Julie and Julia" movie trailer!  It's called "It's Amazing" by Jem and it is, truly, amazing!!! :D <3

Ahhh...ain't life grand? :D <3

Last week's Friday Five

I'm board, so I decided to do last week's Friday Five now and then do this week's Friday Five on... you guessed it this Friday.

1. Never give yourself bangs just because someone else tells you that you should.

2. It never ends well when your old fashioned parents are standing right next to you as the unsuspecting check out guy (both literally and figuratively) at the store tells you that your bangs make you look punk and it's turning him. Note: this is the same check out guy from "Clothes."

3. Picking up 10 credits in summer school sounds really easy, but it' isn't.

4. Store bought cookies taste sort of like cold hotdogs, which is not something you normally look for in a cookie.

5. Someone should write a handbook about how to dress for a job interview, and it should have subcategories for all the different jobs.

First line MEME

"There is a meme going around writer blogs at the moment, thanks in part to a post over on Fangs, Fur and Fey. Basically, you post the opening lines to your finished works and WIPs."

Alright then, here we go!

Mysterious Boy: When the police find me I'm laying in the middle of the kitchen floor in a pool of blood.

Angel Hunters: The air outside the car is crisp and breezy, cold enough to cause the windows to frost over and for us to turn the heat up to full blast.

Genevieve: I was only eight-years-old the day my mother perished behind the walls of the asylum that had held her captive since my younger sister Tess's birth seven years before.

(Belated) friday five

I know today is Saturday, but better late then never, right?  So, here is my (belated) "Friday Five".

1) "Sorry" really IS the hardest word to say... :(

2) Cancer sucks ass, seriously.  Someone find a cure soon, PLEASE!

3) "Confesssions of a Shopoholic" is actually a very cute and hilarious movie!  I laughed through like the whole thing!  Go see it!

4) Speakiing of "holic", is there such thing as "Bookoholics Annoyomous"?  Because if there is, I need to join it-now.  I read and shop at bookstores waaaay too much, it's like a sickness I tell you, a sickness! :P

5) I can't freaking WAIT till July 15th!  "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" comes out then and that's only three days away, THREE!  AHHHHHHHH! :D :P <3

Ok, freak out over now, I promise.  I'm just a little excited, that's all, can't you tell? :P
